The lake of Vouliagmeni, which was created by the subsidence of the soil and has a great depth, was the reason the famous area of Southern suburbs took that name. In Vouliagmeni is situated the world famous Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel and the famous Astir Beach.


A marina for luxury super yachts which will accommodate 59 pleasure boats and will have a helipad and luxury shops, is also being built in the area.


An important monument in the area is the chapel of Agios Nikolaos situated on the rocks of Laimos, built in 1947 by the painter- sculptor Nikolao Xeno.
